I’m a marine engineer who embarked on a transformative journey in Kenya over three decades ago. At 34, I joined the pioneering wave at the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in 1992, establishing IILIN GLORIA & KENKO (EPZ) — a venture dedicated to sisal manufacturing for overseas markets. Unfortunately, three years later, I faced adversity, losing all my investments and finding myself at the mercy of unfamiliar conditions.

In the face of challenges, I joined Majani Sisal Estate in Mogotio, seeking stability for my family. Driven by resilience and guided by my wife’s encouragement, I delved into poultry farming, establishing “Kim’s Poultry Farm LIMITED.” The journey has been riddled with trials, particularly navigating the demanding and costly Kenyan market for small-scale broiler farmers.

Amidst these trials, my unwavering commitment to give back to the country that has shaped my life led to the creation of Kadmos Seafarers Training and Manning Limited. For over three decades, I have witnessed the untapped potential within the Kenyan youth, juxtaposed against limited opportunities. A pivotal moment was our sponsorship of the inaugural Marine Engineering class at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in 2010, where we facilitated practical training in South Korea.

These experiences fortified my resolve to contribute meaningfully to society and the economy. At Kadmos Seafarers Training and Manning Limited, our mission is crystal clear: to empower Kenyan youth to seize abundant opportunities within the maritime industry. We are motivated by the holistic growth of society, providing comprehensive training for successful careers in the rapidly expanding global shipping industry.
