KMOU Welcomes Kenya Delegate to South Korea.
The Korean Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU) has warmly welcomed a delegation from Kenya on a visit aimed at deepening maritime cooperation, advancing training opportunities, and strengthening partnerships between the two nations.
The Kenyan delegation was led by Capt. Ki Hwan Kim, Director and Founder of Kadmos Seafarers Training and Manning, alongside Dr. Eric Katana, Chief Executive Officer of the Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA). They were joined by Chief Engineer Titus Kilonzi, BMA’s Deputy Director of Maritime Education and Training, and a technical expert from the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA).
A central highlight of the visit was the inspection of a training vessel donated to BMA, a critical investment that will provide Kenyan cadets with practical seaboard experience and elevate the standard of maritime education in the country. This vessel will play a transformative role in preparing cadets for careers in the competitive global maritime industry.
During their time at KMOU, the delegation engaged in high-level discussions focusing on knowledge sharing, advanced maritime training, and capacity building. Strengthening institutional ties was at the core of the agenda, with both sides emphasizing the importance of collaboration in nurturing future maritime professionals.
The visit comes at a significant time for BMA, as four cadets are set to join the Global On-Board Training (GOBT) Program beginning 18th September 2025. This international program will offer them months of real-world seafaring experience, further aligning Kenya’s maritime training with global standards.
For Kenya, the mission represents more than academic cooperation — it underscores a broader vision of positioning the nation as a hub for world-class maritime education while unlocking opportunities within the Blue Economy.
Through partnerships with esteemed institutions like KMOU, Kenya continues to invest in its young seafarers, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the oceans and the opportunities of tomorrow.
