Kenya Maritime Authority Director General CPA Omae Nyarandi and Korea’s Deputy Minister Jeongho Seo, today signed a landmark MoU between Kenya and the Republic of Korea on the mutual recognition of Seafarers’ Certificates of Competency during the 11th Our Ocean Conference in Mombasa.
The signing was witnessed by Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Hon. Ali Hassan Joho, Principal Secretary for Shipping and Maritime Affairs Aden Millah, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries Betsy Njagi.
The agreement will open global employment opportunities for Kenyan seafarers aboard Korean-flagged vessels while strengthening maritime training and cooperation between the two nations.
